TOO FAST TO LIVE, TOO YOUNG TO DIE is a selection of photography, art and ephemera from the California Punk & Hardcore scene with an emphasis on the explosive period of the late 70's and early 80's. This exhibition features creative pioneers who were present for the detonation of the Southern California scene and whose imagery helped capture and craft it's angles, attitudes, music, fashion and sub-culture. Additionally, reflections of other punk scenes throughout California and contemporary collaborations will be presented that were inspired by one of the most potent and relevant periods of individual expression in California history.

LOS ANGELES TIMES - "Punk Rock's Creative and Savage Legacy"

A documentary film by Jon Cournoyer
in association with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation & First Peoples Fund

"Across the Creek" is a documentary film serving to reclaim Sioux Stories, Values and Visions for future generations. Shot on the Rosebud and Pine Ridge Reservations, the film blends elder tribal members' stories of youth in the early part of the twentieth century with their contemporary experience and struggles faced today.  The legacy of colonialism left broken an entire way of thinking and way of living that tribal communities are now trying to restore.  With focuses on family structure, tribal youth, traditional spirituality and native language, "Across the Creek" aims to help support the restoration, healing and nation rebuilding of the Lakota people.

The Los Angeles Times calls Rock, Paper, Scissor “an indie dream lineup"

ROCK PAPER SCISSOR highlighted noteworthy artists who freely use, base imagery on, thrive, and excel in both the mediums of visual art and music. The artists featured in the show are Raymond Pettibon, Daniel Johnston, Ron English, Gibby Haynes of the Butthole Surfers and Thurston Moore, Kim Gordon and Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth. These artists, who in both the mediums of music and art, have created a memorable and historical body of work and continue to do so. Born from outsider roots stemming from Los Angeles, New York and Texas, they blurred the boundaries of aural and visual expressions creating what would become a hallmark of material from the period of the 1980’s-1990’s, eventually being absorbed by both the mainstream public and art industries. It’s influences today are countless.
